Where has all the fun gone?

The Cake Bake Company is on a mission to share some fun activities this summer. They have developed a new way to make cake icing from ingredients found in your store cupboard.  This icing can be made, rolled out, cut and shaped easily.  It costs roughly one third less than fondant icing you can buy.

The how to do it and ideas for using it are all on the company web site. They show you in pictures exactly what to do. This icing uses jelly crystals; water, icing sugar and a tiny bit of oil or fat. It comes in bright colours and tastes like jelly. It takes just a few minutes to make.

Sharon and Martin are expert cake bakers after running The Cake Bake Company ltd since 2005. All business is difficult at the moment but having fun does not have to cost a lot. This new way to make icing could be Childs’ play this summer holidays. Celebration cakes are ridiculously expensive but lots of people lack the confidence to create their own. We hope, with this new way to make an icing you can shape, roll and cut that people will enjoy making really memorable and personal decorated cakes. They do not have to be professionally perfect and they always look better in the photos anyway.

The web site shows some finished examples and gives lots of hints and tips for free. We will be out and about showing how easy jelly icing really is.

The Cake Bake Company Ltd produces thousands of excellent quality, long life traditional sponge cakes in slab form every day. The cakes are competitively priced and taste almost home made. After baking the 400 huge sponge cakes to make the Skoda car we like the fun our products can create.

This follows on from Sharon’s book ‘it’s fun at home’ and editorial articles in Good Housekeeping, Able Magazine, the Parkinson’s magazine, Chat and most of the daily papers. This is the next step in our story. Wherever we go we are always asked about our cakes and the car.

Check out May's edition of 'The Grocer' magazine. The 2 page article (which starts on page 32) features an in depth look on our involvement in building the famous Skoda car made entirely out of cake. The piece is called 'Building a car is no laughing matter' and tells of how it transformed the company from a small fledgling company, into what it is today, and the company's plans on expansion.

The piece highlights the massive achievement of company director Sharon Goodyear, and her battle with the devastating medical condition 'Parkinson's Disease'.

The Cake Bake Company Ltd would like to thank all those that attended our official opening of our new premises in Swanscombe on Friday the 26th of October. Especially The Mayor of Dartford - Councillor Sheila East whom performed the opening ceremony. Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did! Once again thank you, your support is much appreciated.

We are pleased do say Lloyds TSB are using The Cake Bake Company as an example in the corporate market. The bank has had printed an A4 colour information sheet which tells of the banks involvement in the success of The Cake Bake Company, along with background company information etc.

We recycle all of our cardboard and now we recycle the ends that we cut off our cakes. Pedigree pigs are being fattened on our cake ends. The BPA and the NFU helped us find our local farmers and gain permission from the DEFRA vet. There are extremely strict regulations as to what you can feed pigs on.

On Friday and Saturday 13th and 14th July 2007 two members of our production team represented The Cake Bake Company at The Kent Show, We gave away more than 7,000 pieces of cake and Radio Kent featured them in a section on promoting local produce as part of ASDA's initiative to reduce the carbon footprint on the produce available in their stores.
